Colour Hunt

Project Brief:

Photograph five different objects that are within the same colour range and present them in a way that explains and describes a narrative/ a story alongside five found objects that have different shapes/textures.

Colour selected: Purple

Route: My journey home from where I park my bicycle at FCH to walking to my front door

My rule: Strictly photographing the first five objects only

Found objects: First five yellow household items

Class presentation: Linear format - using belt as a storytelling device to show the journey

Feedback/Response:

Despite having a rather mundane narrative that tells of my journey home, I wanted to explore how I view my surroundings in my local area. You can tell it's a built-up residential neighbourhood with the graffiti, the shop sign and the recycling box and I was surprised at the number of purple things I could see once I started looking. I then contrasted the purple with a random mix of yellow household objects as they are opposite on the colour wheel. These found objects represent practicality and utility with the belt and washing up sponge, as well as playfulness with the die and Jenga brick.
