Exploring Scale Using Paper Model

Image
5 Minute Paper Sculpture I chose this paper sculpture out of my four because of its deceiving simplicity with its three points that touch the ground and its pinnacle cone shape inspired me to photo-edit it into a pavilion, a cap, and earrings.  Obsessed with this Fibonacci spiral-esque corner because I can just imagine people would curiously look up into its depths. Not only does it provide structural support but it also has a beautiful harmony as it's an organic shape found in nature, such as the centre of a sunflower or a seashell.  This photo reveals the underneath of the structure that would provide a triangular floorplan that could be perfect for a pavilion with its open sides and protective pyramid-like canopy.  Airport Park Pavilion Nike Sports Cap Origami Wing Earrings

Colour Hunt

Project Brief:   Photograph five different objects that are within the same colour range and present them in a way that explains and describes a narrative/ a story alongside five found objects that have different shapes/textures. Colour selected: Purple Route: My journey home from where I park my bicycle at FCH to walking to my front door My rule:  Strictly photographing the first five objects only Found objects: First five yellow household items Class presentation: Linear format - using belt as a storytelling device to show the journey Feedback/Response:  Despite having a rather mundane narrative that tells of my journey home, I wanted to explore how I view my surroundings in my local area. You can tell it's a built-up residential neighbourhood with the graffiti, the shop sign and the recycling box and I was surprised at the number of purple things I could see once I started looking. I then contrasted the purple with a random mix of yellow household objects as they a...

Reflecting on my old sketchbook...

Reflecting on my old sketchbook... Throughout my first year studying Landscape Architecture, I completed two A5 journals. These sketchbooks became a daily extension of my studies where I could freely explore ideas alongside my modules. I aim to continue this habit in the upcoming year because I feel it benefits my progress as I am able to research and test out thoughts without inhibition due to the lack of pressure for things to be 'finished' or 'perfect'. So I'd thought I'd share some old pages from my last sketchbook, in order to mark my progress and to reflect back on some successes (and some failures too!) with a little bit of context to explain my thought process at the time.    First Page/Last Page Keeping it simple; the first page is a doodle inspired by the technique of subtractive drawing using a wash of graphite first, then carving into using an eraser, and also shading in certain elements to create these fluid forms. I always like to create a cover pa...
